In this article I want to give quick reviews about each advertising services that are available on internet. This article is especially good for you who want to know what difference between advertising services is. Remember that these are quick reviews and not deep reviews.

I’m going to make quick reviews about following services:

  • Google Adwords
  • Yahoo Search Marketing!
  • Miva
  • Microsoft Adcenter

Google Adwords

Google Adwords is probably most known advertising service around the internet. In Adwords you have two options to advertise, you can either use Pay Per Click or Pay Per Impression method. In PPC main idea is that whenever your ad keywords trigger your ad your ad will appear in Google page. By using this method you are in auction because you bid about keywords. Google Adwords is very diverse advertising service. You can define your ads very specifically by having options to be modified like:

  • Language
  • Location
  • Networks (Search and Content Network)
  • Devices (iPhones and Desktops)
  • Budget
  • Bidding
  • Accelerate (How fast your ads are displayed)
  • Ads Form (Text or Image)

So you have lots of options. Beside of those things Adwords offers lots of other sub services like Keyword Tool which is most used keyword tool amongst internet marketers.

Also you are able to track all your clicks, impressions, conversion rate and lots more.

Bad thing in Google Adwords is that they have very tight rules and they must be obeyed unless you want to get banned from their service. This is of course also good thing when considering that Google wants to deliver best service to their customers. Another thing is that keyword prices are nowadays very high but you can get them cheaper only if you optimize properly your site.

Yahoo Search Marketing!

Yahoo Search Marketing is same kind like Google Adwords but interface is different. It is easy to use although Google Adwords interface in my opinion is easier to use. Main idea is also same like Google Adwords. You just create ad and define keywords to it and you will pay only when someone clicks on your ad.

Good thing in Yahoo Search Marketing is that keyword cost is not as high as in Google Adwords but you can see sometimes results slower than in Google Adwords. Remember that this does not happen all the time but sometimes. However Yahoo Search Marketing is not bad advertising service. It is very good one and sometimes it is even better for beginners or advanced users to use it rather than Google Adwords. Why?

Reason is that because lots of people are using Google, because Google is king of search engines and thus people are always searching from there. However you need to remember that Google is not only big search engines that are available around internet. In fact Yahoo is almost used same amount like Google Adwords.

Now if lots of people are using Google there would be of course more people on Google Adwords because they know that they can reach most of people to their ads by using Google Adwords and thus there are tougher keyword auction.

Reason for this is because Yahoo Search Marketing does not offer so much sub services like Google Adwords.

Miva

Time for Miva. Miva has been on this business since 1999. They launched their service with pay-per-click. Miva is doing very well even it is not known as much as giants Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing.

Good thing in Miva is that you have more character space for your ad, meaning that you are able to write long title and long description to your ad. For example in Google Adwords you have only 30 character limit of your title while in Miva you have 50 characters. In side of description in Google Adwords you can have only 35 characters long lines and you can have only two lines while in Miva you can have 250 characters. So there’s difference.

Microsoft Adcenter

Microsoft Adcenter is another advertising service that is quiet known. It is working same like above advertising services. Your ads will be displayed on Msn and Bing. Even Microsoft Adcenter provides good services they have one very big minus about their service. Big minus comes from joining to their advertising service.

They have limited their service for specific countries only. Those countries are:

  • Canada
  • French
  • United Kingdom
  • United States
  • Singapore

So if you live out of those countries you are not eligible to join to Microsoft Adcenter advertising service. Now one question rises above my head, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? I don’t know. Anyway another bad thing that I also noticed is that there happens more errors on their services and Adcenter is not supporting Google Chrome web browser.

7 Tips for Writing Effective Ads in Adwords

Here we have listed most important tips for writing effective ads in Google Adwords.

1. Put the main keyword in the headline

Remember to write your main keyword in the headline because it has big effect. When user search your keyword that you have included in your headline it has great probability that Google will display it.

2. Put the biggest benefit in your ad

Effective ad has always benefit and that benefit is aimed for user and not for you. In the end we are concentrating on getting users to your site. When you are advertising a product using PPC lots of people are writing a feature in their ad and that’s big mistake. Users are not interested in features but rather in benefits.

3. Have a strong call to action

Have a strong call to action. This is critical part in your ad. When you have appropriate and strong call to action you will 99% get users to click your ad. This will raise your ad click through rate (CTR). High CTR will reduce your ad cost.

4. Capitalize the first letter of each word in the ad

Capitalizing the first letter of each word will ease readability. It is nice to read ad that is easy to read and clean.

5. Capitalize the first letter of each word in your URL

Capitalizing the first of each word of URL has same effect like capitalizing letters in your ad but now this will also ease to remember your website address.

6. Ask a question in your ad

Asking question in your ad will give user to consider something in mind. This is good thing because it makes user to be curious to get answer for that specific question. So only way to find it out is to click your ad unless you want to Google it.

7. Learn copywriting skills

Learning copywriting skills is usually under-estimated and it is huge mistake. Learning copywriting skills is essential and it has big impact in writing outstanding ad that lure users to your site or even to buy your product. So learn copywriting skills and you will see the difference.

Basics of PPC Advertising

When speaking about online advertising one of the most known methods is PPC. PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click. In this method advertiser pays only when someone clicks his/her ad.

Most known PPC program is Google’s Adwords. It is very vital tool for many advertisers because Google is most known search engines around Internet and it has high potential to bring huge amount of visitors.

In this article we are going to use Google Adwords as an example of PPC advertising program!

How it works?

In PPC, advertiser bids on keyword phrases. Each time when a visitor types a keyword phrase in search engine advertiser’s ad will be displayed but only if advertiser has bided enough high for that specific keyword phrase. For which result page ad will be displayed there are facts that are effecting to it.

Each unique keyword phrase has its own bid price. The bid price of each keyword phrase is not constant and it changes sometimes. Reason for this is competition between advertisers. Google has own formula how to determine the cost of each keyword. Each keyword phrase price is possible to get less or more expensive. Fact that is effecting to the price of keyword phrase is called “Quality Score”.

The better Quality Score you have the cheaper your keyword bids will be. There are certain facts that are effecting to the Quality Score. The facts are:

  • The historical Clickthrough Rate (CTR) of keyword
  • Adwords account history
  • Your account’s performance in the geographical region where your ad is displayed
  • The historical CTR of the display URLs in that specific ad group
  • The quality of your landing page
  • The relevance of keyword to the ads
  • The relevance of keyword and the matched ad to search query
  • Other factors
