When you see some videos or mp3’s that are speaking about email list at least you will hear following sentence “The Money is in the list!”. I have heard this sentence so many times that I have got sick of it to just heart it. It feels like you are being brainwashed with that sentence “The money is in the list, the money is in the list.”.

Although it is quiet repeating sentence it is unfortunately true. The meaning of that sentence is that when you build an email list, especially large one, you can earn money from your subscribers by referring them some product. Let’s take an example.

Let’s imagine that you have about 20K subscribers. From those subscribers 20% will check their email from you.

20 000 * 0.20 = 4 000

So 4 000 subscribers will check your email or your offer. From those 4 000 let’s say 5% will take action i.e. buy product that you recommend.

4 000 * 0.05 = 200

Now let’s imagine also that you have a product where you get commission $35. Let’s go into calculation.

200 * $35 = $7000

That’s $7000 just by sending for your subscribers product offer or you refer some product. That’s easy money. When you have 20K subscriber list there will be higher number of per cent that will response to your email and will take action. Those were rough numbers that I picked up and I wanted to show you that even with small responsive amount of people how much you can earn money.

Of course there are lots of other things that will effect to your conversion rate. For example your email sale letter, how well it is written and how effective it is. Anyway that was to show you how effective email lists really can be when they are done well. So let’s get into main point “How to build an email list?”.

Ingredients for building email list

• 1 piece of Email Marketing Service (Free or Paid)
• 1 page of sale letter or website
• 1 piece of giveaway product or something else that is similar

This recipe is very easy to do.

Step #1 – Join to email marketing service if you don’t have one. There are free and paid services.

Paid email marketing services

• Aweber
• iContact
• GetResponse

Step #2 – Create your subscribers field i.e. name and email fields with submit button. If you don’t know how to do this there are clear instructions on those email marketing services.

Step #3 – Copy and paste that subscriber’s field HTML or Java code to your desired page (sale page or website).

Step #4 – Add giveaway product to the subscriber’s field in your sale page or website where you tell to visitors that if you subscriber now you can get my new brand eBook or something similar. People never subscribe to the list unless they get something. I don’t only mean that giveaway but also that if you don’t provide them with quality content and you don’t understand what your subscribers are looking for then there’s a big problem that need to solved.

Step #5 (Optional) – Watch how new subscribers roll to your list .

Conclusion

As you can see it is very easy step to start build an email list. When you have built a big email list it is very rewarding, especially when you success to promote products to your list. There are lots of guru bloggers that has big email list. The biggest one that I have ever seen was email list with 200K subscribers.

Remember to provide your subscribers high quality content, listen them and try to at least know what they want and answer to their need.

Reason for why I have not put some images on how to build email list is that there are so many different email marketing services that I don’t really know which one I should use to show you. But maybe in near future I’m going to make some video tutorial on how to build list. I pick up randomly some email marketing service to show it.

One more thing. If you can afford paid email marketing services I highly recommend joining one of them because they have very good user interface, they have customer service and you can manage your lists so easily. With free email marketing services I have had only bad experiences.
