Possible Google Algorithm Update on August 28th

Google may have just put out an algorithm update a couple days ago that seems to have affected webmaster’s keyword rankings. For the most part website keyword rankings have dropped significantly, while some witnessed an increase by about 20%.

This is still in the early stage of development, but with the recent Panda update already being implemented and the upcoming (and terrifying) Penguin update being expected, this change on August 28th could be a number of things.

I’ll keep you updated once I find out more on this.

Not sure what’s going on. We have been in business for over 10 years on the web and have not done anything that Google should not approve of. We have not taken any big hits with any previous updates, but on August 28th our traffic and rankings took a major hit. Over 60% of traffic, and 80% of 1st page or 2nd page rankings are now deep in the rankings it looks like. Not sure if this was a glitch since I don’t think we are doing anything to red flag our site and we have not made many changes in the 10 years just small adjustments here and there.

Ouch, seems like you got hit pretty hard for being a site online for that long. I can’t seem to find out what exactly happened, but a few of my sites got hit as well.

Not looking too good with a Penguin update coming soon as well.
